Ministry of Power - Draft Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Amendment Rules, 2023

The Ministry of Power has proposed implementation of time-of-day (TOD) tariffs following installation of smart meters.

Time-of-day tariffs

Effective from 1 April 2024 and 1 April 2025 for C&I consumers and other consumers respectively
Tariff during solar generation hours to be at least 20% less than base tariff
Tariff premium during peak hours of minimum 20% and 10% over base tariff for C&I consumers and other consumers respectively
